Protect your luxury car with proper tire care. Poorly maintained tires are far more likely to blow out or cause other dangerous problems. To take good care of your tires, make sure they’re properly inflated, in good condition, and rotated on schedule. Learn more about proper tire care for luxury cars below.
Proper tire inflation is vital to the safety and performance of your luxury car. An improperly-inflated tire carries several risks with it. It can lead to poor performance at the least and full-on failure at worst. Sudden blowouts are hazardous because they could lead to collisions. When it comes to tire safety, don’t trust your eyes. A tire can be as much as 50% underinflated before any visible signs of under-inflation present themselves. Check the markings on your tire or your owner’s manual to find out the proper psi for your tires.
Check your luxury car for tire wear as well. You can do this by examining the tread. Most tires have some visible indicator of tread wear, often in the form of tread wear bars. The penny test is also a useful tool for checking on tire wear. To do this, place a penny into the valley of the tread with the tip of Lincoln’s head downward. If you can see the top of Lincoln’s head, the tread is worn and the tire needs to be replaced.
Because tires in different positions on your vehicle wear out at different rates, you’ll need to have them rotated every 5,000 miles or so. On front wheel drive vehicles, the rotation should be as follows: both front tires should be brought directly back into their rear tire positions and back tires should be brought forward, but to the opposite side of their origin.
