Exploring the Origins of the Mercedes-Benz E-Class

Last updated 4 years ago

As with many legends, Mercedes-Benz began with humble origins. The Mercedes-Benz lineup now ranges from high-performance supercars to premium crossovers, but the midsize E-Class remains one of its most popular models. This brief video clip explores the history behind the E-Class.

At the start of it all was the 1936 260D, which was one of the world’s first passenger cars to utilize a diesel engine. Further powertrain refinements lead to the “Ponton” which, much like the current E-Class, served as a widely popular taxicab due to its durability. Several iconic models such as the “Fintail,” the “Stroke-8,” and the “Wedge” soon followed, eventually culminating in the modern “E-Class” design in 2003.

Mercedes-Benz continues to make history with a long lineup of world-class vehicles, and you may be able to have your very own used luxury car for less than you think. Just visit TexasCarsDirect.com or call (214) 736-8557 to inquire about our current offers.
